Today is World Toilet Day!! This is a serious topic, even here in America.  In 2013, the United Nations General Assembly officially proclaimed Nov. 19 to be World Toilet Day.  It was designed to bring awareness to the sanitation and health problem of people around the world not having adequate sanitation.  You can go to the World Toilet Day website for more information. But this blog is focused on our need right here in America.

Most of us take this for granted.  Even though we don’t have large populations of people in any area defecating in the open, we do have people right here in our own back yard living without adequate sanitation.  Some are people who are barely getting by and then there are those who are homeless.  Where do you think they find proper sanitation?

We have had customers who went without a working toilet for a long period of time because they couldn’t afford to call a plumber.  When they finally gathered up enough money and called us, we were heartsick that they went so long without a working toilet.  This is an issue for us here in the Twin Cities, here in MN and in the broader United States of America.  But it’s something that isn’t talked about or acknowledged. People don’t know where to get help, or if there is even help for this type of a need.  This has always weighed heavy on our hearts.  We take out perfectly good, quality toilets people change due to color or style or the height doesn’t work for them, but we have no resources for places that will take them and use them for those in need.  We don’t have a Good Will or Salvation Army for this type of product.  It’s time to start talking and making a difference in our own communities about the need to be sure all American’s have properly working toilets in their homes!
